Hi, my name is Candi Keene, and I am the owner, baker, cake decorator and dessert artist for Keene Cakes & Confections. I have always enjoyed baking for my friends and family, and recently, my hobby of baking and creating beautiful and delicious cakes, cakes pops and other desserts has turned into a small home-based business. For me, baking is a true love and passion. I am always reading cooking magazines, cookbooks, baking blogs, and also 'pinning' every yummy treat I can find as I scour the internet via Pinterest, Stumble Upon, Punchfork, Foodgawker and various blogs devoted to baking.
I have been blessed to be a stay-at-home mom for the past seven years since my husband and I had our first son in 2005. Our second son was born in 2007, and my life has revolved around them ever since they've blessed our family. I had planned to go back to work once they were both in school, and that has proven to be very difficult with the current state of our economy. Having looked for work off and on over the past few years, and with very little luck, I began baking more and more often not only as a hobby, but almost as a kind of therapy. It was something I could do for others that they appreciated, but also that made me feel appreciated in return. Baking is my form of art which allows me time to create. This makes me happy, and the results of my 'art' make others happy. It's a win-win!
Every order I take is completed as a labor of love. I use only quality ingredients and spend many hours baking and doing the custom design work until I am completely satisfied. Since I happen to be my biggest critic, this ensures that my customers are also satisfied.
